Interest + Impact: Finding a Marketable Nonfiction Topic and Where to Go From There

Online Workshop Description:

Librarians love them. Teachers share them. Parents crave them. Nonfiction manuscripts are selling well! Do you have a NF idea you’d like to pursue? Not sure where to begin? In this introductory workshop we will examine various nonfiction formats and determine if your topic has impact and kid appeal. Learn how to focus STEM-related ideas using the Next Gen Science Standards. In addition, we’ll discuss strong opening scenes that hook young readers from page one.

Attendees will learn how to determine whether your NF idea will excite an agent/editor plus tips on the research process, openings that hook your reader, photo research, and more. Participants will also gain tips for staying organized during the research phase, from quote sources to photo acquisitions. Plus time for your questions!
